Traditional screeds contain pre-mixed material packaged in bags or loose in accordance with UNI EN 13813.
The screed is the supporting layer of the floor, made of non-structural material, laid on site on the relative subfloor or on an intermediate insulating layer.
Its function is to distribute the loads that will weigh on it and to lay the flooring. The traditional screed is composed of three materials used in the right proportions: cement, inert material (sand and/or gravel) and water.
During the laying process, the screed is properly compacted and trowelled, but without being smoothed. The porosity of the screed allows the bonding of the tiles, but if it is too smooth prevents the adhesion of the adhesive and the escape of moisture. The curing time of the screed depends on its thickness.
