INNOVATION AND QUALITY
Fornaci Calce Grigolin operates for over 50 years in order to guarantee customers a full and comprehensive range of products. The distinctive features of the production are:
modern plants with high productivity and a continuous cycle;
the production cycle of the lime that, thanks to the use, as wood sawdust fuel, is considered zero impact as regards the Kyoto Protocol;
High availability of its deposits of calcareous raw material of high quality and homogeneity;
High storage capacity of the finished product;
Transport and efficient service with its own means;
internal chemical laboratory and CE certifications under current regulations UNI EN 459.
The raw material for the production of lime is limestone, a sedimentary rock rich in calcium carbonate (CaCO3) which is extracted from the appropriate slots. The material, coarsely crushed with a diameter in the order of centimeters is introduced in special furnaces where it is baked at 800-900 °. In this phase a reaction called "calcination" that leads to the formation of calcium oxide with liberation of carbon dioxide:
CaCO3 → CaO + CO2
The product, also known as lime Viva, comes in the form of plates of different granulometry, subsequently subjected to milling and sieving. The obtaining of hydrated lime (or slaked lime) is via hydration of the lime in accordance with the reaction:
CaO + H2O → Ca (OH) 2
The oxide of calcium stoichiometrically off is by assaying the water, with formation of hydrated lime powder, in turn raffinabile with specific wind separators for the obtaining of microcalce (or lime flower).
When switching off occurs with an excess of water, the product obtained, subjected to adequate maturing in tanks, it is the lime putty.
